It’s hard to believe it was 25 years ago on Valentine’s Day that Bud E. and faithful sidemen Mikey and Markey Luv first took the stage at the iconic Paradise Lounge at 11th and Folsom St. to spice up a light Tuesday night. The trio’s chemistry was perfect as the boys expertly combined humorous shtick and great musicianship with Mr. Luv’s golden vocals. The band became a favorite on the popular Alex Bennett radio show as they provided a musical foil for the grumpy morning man at Live 105.  The Fabulous Bud E. Luv Show became so “beloved” that it was “standing room only” at The Paradise Lounge for the next 13 years on Tuesday night!

In 1992, after several national tours, the boys headed to NYC for a critically acclaimed 11-week Off-Broadway run, where New York Times music critic Stephen Holden dubbed them “The Ultimate Lounge Act”.  Famed syndicated columnist Liz Smith called them “a riot “. During the Off-Broadway run there were many TV and radio appearances, culminating with a stint on The Today Show where the Budster and Katie Couric sang the “Love Boat Theme” together.  Later in 1992, Mr. Luv wrote the highly regarded “You Oughta Be Me, How To Be A Lounge Singer And Live Like One”, published by St. Martin’s Press, which is still a classic bathroom reader for so many aspiring lounge performers. In 2002 the band recorded “Diary Of A Lounge Man”, a collection of Ozzie Osborne compositions served up with extra schmaltz.  The CD captured the attention of Ozzie and Sharon, who loved it so much they flew in the entire Bud E. Luv Big Band for a command performance at their renuptial wedding bash on their MTV reality show that New Year’s Eve.

Bud E. Luv begins the festivities at 8:00 pm on Valentine’s Day with the entire 11-piece big band. They’ll be playing all your favorites from the past 25 years and fielding your requests.
