Singer songwriter, recording artist, Kimrea will share a rare night of wonderful original music at the 142 Throckmorton Theatre in a special Mill Valley performance with her long standing band, the Dreamdogs.
“Subversive, folk rocking, blues rebel, love talking, peace dreaming, punk singing, soul sister, jazz troubadour” Kimrea has been writing and performing her songs for over 40 years, following in the footsteps of her first songwriting heroes, Woodie Guthrie, Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, Joni Mitchell, Carol King, and Rickie Lee Jones, in the tradition of the Troubadour. Her pocket songs as she calls them are like polished treasures; the more she shares them the more they shine!
As a songwriter, she paints vivid pictures with words. Her songs are like mini movies with thought provoking stories and big ideas wrapped in ear catching packages tied up in ribbons of melody and rhythm.
Kimrea has lived her stories and her art is the expression of her heart and soul, the prayer within that reaches out to be heard. Her songs are shaped from observation and reflection on day-to-day survival, trying to make sense of the hustle and heartbreak, finding the common threads that hold us together, questioning the insanity that pulls us apart, seeking the hope that saves the day and the humor that helps us to laugh at our selves.
Kimrea has lived and performed in Northern California & the Bay Area for over 25 years. For the past 13 years, she and her loyal band Dreamdogs have played together at private parties, restaurants and bars mixing her timeless original songs with all kinds of popular music old and new, from folk to rock, jazz to blues, pop to country, doo wop to Motown. Kimrea & Dreamdogs are a tight little band, with great musicianship, great vocals great harmony and great camaraderie.
